Cherine obtained her BA in International Relations and Political Science from Oxford Brookes University. She specialized in the International Politics of the Middle East at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, where she obtained her MSc. Before embarking on her global health career she completed her Law degree at City University London. She started her career in global health working within fundraising for Orbis, a charity focusing on preventable blindness treatments. Following this, she joined PATH, a global health NGO, and worked on clinical trials for three years within the meningitis vaccine development program.
