The Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership Board is seeking a Treasurer to oversee the financial situation of the Organization and advise and guide the organization on its financial concerns.
GARDP is an independent, not-for-profit foundation registered under the Swiss Civil Code, administered by a Board of Directors (the Board). Board members are experts in their field and are chosen for their commitment to the public interest R&D, their technical competency, and their support of the mission of GARDP. The Board has powers over all matters pertaining to GARDP, notably, approving the overall policies and principles of GARDP, including those related to ethical considerations and fundraising strategies; approving project selection; and approving the annual work plan and budget.
The Treasurer, as a member of the Board and relevant subcommittees reviews, on a regular basis, the finances of the Organization, reports to the Board at each of its meetings on the financial status of the Organization, ensures that the annual audit is conducted as required under the Swiss law as well as the Organization’s Charter and bylaws, and provides financial advice to the Executive Director and the Board. The Treasurer shall also act as the Chair of the Audit Committee and oversees and approves agendas and circulation of minutes to the Audit Committee and the Board. In addition, and similar to other Board members, the Treasurer is expected to provide strong support for fundraising and resource mobilization at GARDP.
Requirements for the ideal candidate are:
- Have strong financial background and qualifications (at least 15 years finance management experience in private industry, including international and/or audit experience)
- Have prior Treasurer/Audit Committee Chair / Board experience
- Be able to manage the Finance and Audit Committee
- Ideally, is a Swiss citizen with very good connection in the Finance sector and Swiss private philanthropic area (in Geneva as a minimum)
- Geneva-based and can be physically present as needed
The tenure of the Treasurer will be a term of three years, renewable, and serve in an honorary capacity. GARDP will reimburse reasonable expenses related to Board work, including travel expenses. The Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP) is a not-for-profit organization developing new treatments for drug-resistant infections that pose the greatest threat to health. GARDP was created by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) in 2016 to ensure that everyone who needs antibiotics receives effective and affordable treatment, no matter where they live. We aim to develop five new treatments by 2025 to fight drug-resistant infections, focusing on sexually transmitted infections, sepsis in newborns and infections in hospitalized adults and children.
