Edward Mukwaya is Pharmaceutical Scientist with 18 years of post-qualification work experience, of which 11 have been in clinical research. Prior to joining clinical research, he worked in community pharmacy, medical sales and marketing, medical logistics management and academia. In his clinical research career, he has worked at OnQ Research, Kendle, Parexel and ICON where he has been involved in clinical research projects sponsored by leading pharmaceutical companies such as GSK, Pfizer, Sanofi, AbbVie, Actelion and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson). Edward possesses experience in managing and monitoring clinical trials in various countries across Africa including South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana and Burkina Faso. He possesses experience in various therapeutic areas including infectious diseases (therapeutics and vaccines), cardiovascular diseases, oncology, respiratory diseases, gastroenterology, endocrinology, metabolic diseases and medical devices. He holds a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®). He is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA), the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and the Project Management Institute (PMI®).
