Martinette Nel joined GARDP as R&D Senior Programmes assistant in March 2018. She has 5 years of experience in private and public health care settings as well as 5 years in clinical research. She earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Prior to working with DNDi, Martinette had a clinical project management role at an international clinical research organisation, in Switzerland. There she gained valuable experience in clinical observational studies, investigating medication, and medical devices. From 2007 until 2010 she worked at Addenbrooke’s Cambridge university hospital, mainly responsible for cost efficient medication supply to inpatients with infectious and respiratory diseases. Prior to the UK she worked in South Africa in rural primary health care clinics with very limited resources. Her main responsibilities were the ordering, supplying, and dispensing of medication according to governmental protocols.
