Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a substantial global public health problem. Gonococcal infections acquired in or from Asia represent most verified ceftriaxone treatment failures, and several ceftriaxone-resistant strains have emerged in Asia and subsequently spread globally.
