Our impact
With the support and commitment of our funders, GARDP is advancing towards a world where everyone has access to next-generation antibiotics to treat drug-resistant infections.
GARDP aims to reduce deaths and illness from priority bacterial pathogens, by developing and ensuring access to new antibiotic treatments.
GARDP’s Theory of Change.
Our Theory of Change guides our work and helps ensure our efforts create measurable impact – expanding the antibiotic pipeline and strengthening the systems needed for antibiotic development, responsible use, and access.
GARDP has shown that innovation and equity can advance together. Through collaboration with our partners, we are driving a more sustainable response to AMR that saves lives today and protects health for the future. Because we are committed to addressing the public health needs of those most affected by antimicrobial resistance, GARDP is securing approvals for first-in-class antibiotic treatments and holds licensing rights for many of the countries where the burden of AMR is greatest. And our access projects are kicking off production of critical new Reserve treatments, laying the groundwork for reliable and affordable supply in more countries. In early discovery, we are advancing highly innovative antibacterial candidates through preclinical development, bolstering the antibiotic pipeline for the longer-term.

Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Addressing AMR is critical to advancing the SDGs and ensuring health security everywhere. GARDP is tackling this challenge head-on.
By driving research and development of new antibiotic treatments, our work directly supports several SDGs and strengthens the foundation for healthier, more resilient communities worldwide.
Newborn and child mortality
GARDP addresses neonatal sepsis by developing new therapies, fostering research partnerships, and improving access to effective antibiotics in high-risk regions.
Bloodstream infections due to selected antimicrobial-resistant organisms
GARDP partners on research initiatives to develop new treatments for severe bacterial infections like sepsis and improve patient outcomes, addressing urgent health threats worldwide.
Proportion of health facilities that have a core set of essential medicines available and affordable on a sustainable basis
GARDP’s initiatives aim to expedite the availability of both novel and established antibiotics, with particular attention to low- and middle-income countries that frequently experience limited access.
No Poverty
GARDP’s collaborative agreements with governments, procurement agencies, and pharmaceutical companies are helping to make antibiotics affordable and reduce costs for patients, supporting the goal of “No Poverty.”
Gender Equality
GARDP works to improve equitable access to effective antibiotics worldwide, focusing on drug-resistant sexually transmitted infections and sepsis – which disproportionately impact women, especially those of reproductive age.
Economic Growth
GARDP contributes to reducing the economic impact of antimicrobial resistance by promoting innovation and ensuring affordable access to effective antibiotics.
Reduced Inequalities
GARDP is committed to ensuring equitable access to antibiotics, especially in low- and middle-income countries where demand is greatest.
Partnerships for the Goals
GARDP collaborates with governments, researchers, and industry to create a sustainable pipeline for antibiotics and establish a global framework for access.
