AMR mortality rates on the rise.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a public health threat that is on the rise, with Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) predicted to have one of the highest AMR mortality rates by 2050.

Powering antibiotic innovation and access in Latin America & the Caribbean.

With a dedicated presence in Brazil through shared offices with DNDi Latin America, GARDP is expanding its presence across the LAC region, de-risking antibiotic development and ensuring access to the right antibiotics for high-burden countries and key populations, including children and newborns.
By building strong regional partnerships and securing license agreements for products with public health value, GARDP is paving the way for affordable, reliable access to its antibiotic portfolio around the world, including in LAC, which is one of the hardest hit regions by AMR. For instance, GARDP’s commercialization rights for antibiotics for serious bacterial infections – cefiderocol (developed by Shionogi) and BWC0977 (in co-development with Bugworks) – include all the LAC countries. Similarly, GARDP’s commercialization rights for zoliflodacin, a first-in-class oral antibiotic for drug-resistant gonorrhoea, include all of LAC, except Argentina and Mexico.
