An estimated 82.4 million people were newly infected with gonorrhoea in 2020, with all these cases resistant to at least one antibiotic.
“There’s a perfect storm of increasing antibiotic resistance and not enough treatments,” said Dr Seamus O’Brien, GARDP Director of Research and Development.
